Job Description Position: PEG Access - Master Control Operator Reports to : Director of PEG Access Supervises: No direct reports; however, works as part of a team to achieve results. Exempt / Non Exempt : Non-Exempt Specific Duties (including but not limited to): Select the correct tapes from the library shelves for the shift's playback. Prepare, print and reconcile logs to automation event lists, confirming program media information, making corrections as necessary, assigning media to decks and updating correct playback commands in the automation software. Load and cue media for correct playback throughout shift. Monitor program playback for technical quality, troubleshooting and correcting playback problems as quickly as possible. Interface with engineering and technical staff to troubleshoot and resolve transmission problems as quickly as possible. Maintain updated logs, initialing and signing log entries, as required by FCC and Rhode Island DPUC regulations. Organize media for playback, including (as applicable) receiving, shelving, pulling, re-shelving and shipping out program editions. Enter program media information into all applicable program log locations, if it is deliverd directly to the playback site. Maintain common filing system for producer agreements and other documentation of program playback, to meet FCC, Rhode Island and DUPUC requirements. Provide support for subsequent shifts, by printing logs as least one day in advance, and pulling program media at least one shift in advance. Update channel program listing daily. Update applicable Community Bulletin Boards daily. Compose a trigger disclaimer crawl and full-screen graphics as needed or directed. Communicates effectively with RI DPUC, other employees, public access users and members of the public. Maintains a safe work environment and complies withal safety policies. Is accountable for supporting department. 2. Media Specialist, Vermont PBS - Winooski, VT

As a bargaining unit (union) member, the Media Specialist is part of a team accountable for Vermont PBS on-air programming and traffic duties as well as managing media for broadcast and online. Media Specialist duties include independent responsibility for enhancement and quality control of daily broadcast and digital video assets. This Media Specialist is the final eyes and ears for VTPBS on air program execution.


The ideal candidate should be familiar with digital video formats as well as possess an understanding of broadcast asset workflow, satellite downlinks, closed captioning and digital (web and other media) distribution. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with co-workers and audience, supporting and enhancing a culture of belonging.  

General proficiency with computers and Office applications is essential. Some experience with and knowledge of digital video and broadcasting is highly desirable, as is some familiarity with non-linear editing.

·         Support the production of newscasts and other live or taped programming for television and multi-platform use

·         Operate robotic studio cameras.

·         Assign wireless mics and IFBs to talent as needed.

·         Strong computer and communications skills are required.

Experience:

·         Previous experience as a Master Control Operator is preferred

·         Knowledge of Florical automation and Ross Overdrive are both a definite plus.

Station operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

A successful candidate may be asked to work any shift including weekends or holidays.
