The IBEW Local 1228 scholarship fund is for members in good standing and their immediate families. Any field of study is acceptable, but priority consideration will be given to those who wish to take course work or training in union/labor issues or in something related to the work of our industry.
To apply, individuals should send a letter to the Local 1228 Executive Board explaining the nature of their course of study and a request for assistance from the Scholarship Fund. The Executive Board will consider the request and decide on the amount (if any) to be awarded. The maximum award shall be $250 to be paid upon successful completion of one semester or term of the course of study, as may be approved by the scholarship committee.
The Union hopes to hold an annual fund raiser for this Scholarship fund. This event will promote the fund and also serve as a way for our members and their families to participate in a social event with a cause, hopefully promoting unionism/brotherhood among our members.
